The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has called on the government to ensure the timely implementation of key economic initiatives, including the 24-Hour Economy and the Big Push programme, to sustain Ghana’s recovery efforts.
The Chamber said while recent economic measures had contributed to restoring confidence and improving macroeconomic stability, the impact of major government programmes would depend on effective execution, adequate financing and stronger collaboration with the private sector.
President of the GNCCI, Stephane Miezan, made the call at the Chamber’s Mid-Year Budget Review Seminar held in Accra as part of its National Dialogue Series.
The seminar brought together business leaders, policymakers, development partners, economists and representatives from the public and private sectors to assess Ghana’s economic performance and examine the implications of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review for businesses.
Miezan commended the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, describing the shift from increased borrowing and expenditure towards prudent financial management as a positive development capable of improving investor confidence.
He noted that the Mid-Year Budget Review presented an encouraging outlook for Ghana’s economic recovery and reflected progress in creating a more predictable business environment to support investment and long-term growth.
However, he stressed that flagship interventions, including the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, the Big Push initiative and other industrial and agricultural programmes, were still at the early stages and required deliberate action to achieve their intended outcomes.
He said their success would largely depend on timely execution, policy consistency, sufficient financing and stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors.
The GNCCI President urged the government to maintain the current momentum by strengthening institutional coordination and deepening engagement with businesses to ensure policies translate into measurable economic gains.
He emphasised that businesses continue to operate amid domestic and global uncertainties, making objective economic analysis and consistent policy direction critical for investment decisions and competitiveness.
