Government is on course to complete the 100,000-bird multipurpose poultry farm at Pomadze in the Gomoa West District, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has said.
The project, which will be fitted with modern feeding systems, an integrated feed mill and environmentally friendly waste management facilities, is intended to honour the Ahmadiyya Muslim community’s contributions to agriculture and national development.
Aligned with the Feed Ghana and Nkoko Nkete Nkete programmes, the facility is expected to boost domestic poultry production, create employment opportunities, stabilise poultry prices and enhance national food security.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang gave the assurance when she addressed the 93rd Annual National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, at Gomoa Pomadze near Winneba.
“This is how policy becomes practice, and government will continue to work with faith-based institutions to deliver sustainable development,” she stated.
She commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim community for its sustained investments in education, healthcare and humanitarian services, noting that such interventions had complemented government’s development efforts over the years.
Moral leadership
Touching on the theme of the convention, “Moral decadence bane: Our responsibilities in the light of Islamic teachings,” the Vice President cited Quran 30:41 to condemn corruption and called for leadership by example, ethical conduct and accountability in public life.
She reaffirmed government’s commitment to justice and transparency, indicating that a strengthened code of conduct for political appointees and public officials was being enforced.
First-year achievements
Highlighting achievements within the first year of the administration, Professor Opoku-Agyemang cited reduced inflation, relative currency stability, the waiver of academic fees for first-year students in public universities, and the establishment of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Mahama Cares, with an allocation of GH¢1.5 billion.
