Kwadaso (Ash), Aug. 7, GNA – Mr Eric Asibey, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, has cut the sod for the construction of a 24-Hour Economy Multi-Purpose Market in the municipality.
The sod-cutting ceremony marked the commencement of the Government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy initiative aimed at stimulating local commerce, creating employment opportunities, and promoting round-the-clock economic activity to improve livelihoods.
Addressing participants at the ceremony, Mr Asibey said the project formed part of the Government’s broader agenda to transform urban centres into vibrant commercial hubs operating both day and night.
He said the modern market would help decongest existing trading centres, improve security for traders, and provide a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
Mr Asibey noted that the project was expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly for the youth and women in the municipality, while boosting economic growth in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional authorities, Nana Nkansah Ababio of the Edwenase-Wioso Traditional Area commended the Government for selecting Kwadaso as one of the beneficiaries of the initiative.
He said the market would ease congestion in existing markets, expand business opportunities, and significantly enhance commercial activities within the municipality.
The contract for the construction of the market has been awarded to Emmaks Company Limited.
The ceremony was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, members of the Municipal Security Council, traditional leaders, Assembly Members, heads of departments, staff of the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly, executives and supporters of the National Democratic Congress, market women, youth groups, and other key stakeholders.
