The newly appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Mr. Andy Osei Okrah has assured Ghanaians of the Authority’s commitment to regulating the sector sustainably while creating job opportunities.
Speaking at his official resumption of role in Accra, Dr. Okrah emphasized the TCDA’s dedication to implementing government policies and strategies aimed at revitalizing the tree crops sector.
He noted that these efforts would not only boost agricultural production but also enhance the livelihoods of farmers across the country.
Dr. Okrah highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in tree crop production, stressing that the TCDA will work closely with stakeholders to ensure policies align with environmental conservation and economic growth.
He further assured that his leadership would focus on innovation, value addition, and market expansion to maximize the sector’s potential.
Addressing staff of the Authority on his first day in office, Mr Osei Okrah, a former Deputy Ashanti Region Minister, pledged to work tirelessly to drive growth and development to the country’s tree crops sector. He replaces Dr Foster Boateng.
My primary focus will be to regulate and develop the tree crops sector in a sustainable environment, ensuring that our production, processing and trading activities are aligned with global best practices,” he said.
Dr Andy Okrah comes to the position with over 20 years of experience in Forestry Management, Sustainable Forest, Climate Change, Business Management and Strategic Human Resources Management, among others.
He is the Chapter President of the Ghana Institute of Foresters (GIF).
The TCDA, established to oversee and regulate the development of tree crops such as cashew, mango, shea, and rubber, plays a crucial role in diversifying Ghana’s agricultural economy.
