Plan International Ghana has provided a range of farm equipment to women’s groups in Tamale as part of efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and economic empowerment in the region.
The donation, which includes tricycles (motor king), grinding mills, sprayers, packaging materials, honey varieties, Wellington boots, threshers, soya planters, snail and soya dryers, poly tanks (Rambo 400), and gas cylinders, is aimed at improving farm operations and boosting livelihoods.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Northern Regional Programmes Influencing and Impact Area Manager of Plan International Ghana, Mr. Sulemana Gbana, highlighted the significance of the initiative under the Women’s Innovation for Sustainable Enterprises (WISE) Project.
“The WISE Project has directly supported 12,641 women, with 4,046 beneficiaries receiving targeted assistance in agriculture and green businesses. This presentation is a testament to our commitment to strengthening women’s agency and economic participation,” He stated.
He noted that the project has contributed to increased productivity, profitability, and innovation among women-owned enterprises. He urged beneficiaries to view the equipment not just as tools but as catalysts for progress, encouraging them to continue innovating and driving positive change within their communities.
“Women in rural communities play a crucial role in agricultural development. This support is designed to enhance their capabilities and enable them to lead in creating more inclusive and prosperous communities,” he added.
Mr. Gbana also called on the recipients to maintain the equipment well, ensuring longevity so that more women can benefit from future interventions.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Adam Gift expressed gratitude to Plan International Ghana, assuring that the equipment would be put to effective use to maximize farm productivity and improve livelihoods.
The initiative reflects Plan International Ghana’s broader mission to promote economic resilience among women farmers and strengthen the agricultural value chain in Ghana.
