A delegation of Uzbek farmers and entrepreneurs, led by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, visited Egyptian agricultural company Belco during an official trip to Egypt to study its fruit and vegetable production model, including cultivation, sorting, packaging, and export preparation.
Belco was founded in the 1960s and today operates more than 3,000 acres of agricultural land alongside three packaging facilities. The company exports around 15,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetable products annually to markets in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
During the visit, the Uzbek representatives examined the modern agricultural technologies Belco uses, covering irrigation systems, fertilizer application, quality control approaches, and harvesting practices. The delegation gave particular attention to water resource management and to the processes the company follows when preparing crops destined for export markets.
The delegation also reviewed Belco’s procedures for meeting international standards in agricultural product preparation. After touring the facilities, Uzbek participants held discussions with Belco specialists on how Egypt’s experience could be applied in Uzbekistan, on the introduction of modern technologies, and on expanding cooperation in agricultural exports.
