Madam Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has presented 1,500 bags of fertiliser to 33 Farmer-Based Organisations (FBOs) in the municipality.
She said the fertiliser was made available under the Feed Ghana Programme and urged the FBOs to distribute it to farmers in the municipality.
She explained that the Feed Ghana Programme was being implemented to boost food production in the municipality.
Speaking at a ceremony at Wenchi, Madam Gyamfi said the fertiliser would reduce production costs and improve local food productivity.
Mr Emmanuel Afful, Wenchi Municipal Director of Agriculture, described the presentation as timely, saying the intervention would improve soil fertility and increase crop yields.
He advised the FBOs to ensure that the fertiliser was distributed to deserving farmers and used for its intended purpose.
Mr Yaroba Abdul Wahab, a representative of the FBOs, expressed appreciation to the Government for assistance.
He noted that the fertiliser would reduce input costs, improve crop nutrition, and enhance local food productivity.
