Agrihouse Foundation, in partnership with the 1 Household 1 Garden initiative and the Monthly Executive Agribusiness Masterclass, is pleased to announce the 11th edition of its transformative one-day training session on backyard farming.
The event will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Agrihouse Training Centre in Dzorwulu, under the theme: Enhancing Nutrition, Ensuring Household Food Security with a focus on promoting sustainable agricultural practices and equipping individuals with practical skills in backyard farming, aimed at improving agri-food systems in Ghana.
The training sessions for the 11th masterclass, will cover a wide range of essential topics, including nursery establishment, seed nursing, transplanting, selecting planting mediums, mulching, water management, and irrigation techniques, all aimed at honing practical agricultural skills.
Ahead of the event, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, expressed the importance of the Masterclass in empowering local communities and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
“The One Household One Garden Masterclass on backyard farming initiative has proven to be a game-changer in transforming the way individuals engage with agriculture. By equipping people with the tools and knowledge to establish their own backyard farms, we are not only enhancing food security but also creating avenues for economic independence in our communities.
“This 11th edition marks a significant milestone for us, and we are eager to witness the positive impact it will have on participants as they embark on their backyard farming journeys.
“As part of this initiative, participants will receive a starter pack filled with essential resources such as seedlings, compost or manure, organic neem insecticide, and seed trays, which will provide them with everything needed to begin their farming endeavours.”
