The Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control at the Ghana Cocoa Board, Dr. Ebenezer Owusu,has called upon Ghanaians to embrace diversity as a means to foster national unity.
Speaking at the launch of the Ghana Cocoa Boards’, Heritage Month celebration on Friday, March 1st, 2024, Dr. Owusu emphasized the importance of transcending cultural and traditional affiliations to unite under a common Ghanaian identity.
“Together, let us embrace our individual differences. We should not be divided by cultural or traditional affiliations but see ourselves as Ghanaians,” Dr. Owusu stated.
“In this Heritage Month, let us be reminded of the strength found in our unity amidst diversity,we must stand together, undivided, and celebrate the richness of our cultural tapestry. It is through our collective appreciation of our differences that we truly embody the spirit of unity that defines us as Ghanaians.”
The Ghana Cocoa Board’s Heritage Month celebration, spanning throughout March, will feature a series of engaging activities aimed at promoting national pride and cohesion. These activities include the commemoration of International Women’s Day and Flag Day on Friday, March 8th, 2024, with special recognition given to the invaluable contributions of women.
Additionally, on Friday, March 15th, 2024, COCOBOD staff members will proudly showcase their regional heritage by donning traditional attire representative of their respective regions as part of the “Represent Your Region” day. This initiative aims to highlight the diverse cultural fabric that enriches the nation’s identity.
The “Good Old Days” event, scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, 2024, will provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on Ghana’s illustrious past and celebrate its rich historical achievements. Finally, the Ghana Month celebration will reach its peak with the grand “Reign of Kings and Queens” event, accompanied by a delightful food bazaar, on Thursday, March 28th, 2024.
