The Monthly Executive Agribusiness Masterclass was held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the training centre of Agrihouse Foundation with about 20 (twenty) participants trooping in for the various classes; Snail Farming and Mushroom Farming.
Over the years, the Livestock, Poultry and Fisheries program  was organized under the auspices of Agrihouse Foundation to provide skills and training to agribusinesses and agric value chain actors with the aim of setting up their own mushroom and snail businesses. Other training fields included yoghurt making to mention few.
This year, evolved to be the Executive Agribusiness Masterclass trained partakers in sessions as Factors to consider in Snail Farming- The Market, Site Selection, Greenhouse, Sourcing for Snails, Snail Hatchery Process, Enemies of Rearing Snails, Structures to consider when doing snail farming, Feeding of the Snails amongst many.
Some participants who spoke to Agriwatch were Mr. Francis Aforve, an astute environmental scientist and Mr. Azariah Kuewor, who underscored the importance of the Agribusiness Masterclass organized and helped with some training contents they absorbed.
According to Mr. Azariah, He has come to know that his snail farming business could start from his environs because of some simple practical methods taught. Commending the organizers of the masterclass, he urged its continuum so the misconception and stigma about farming and agriculture amongst young people can be eradicated.
He also thanked Agrihouse Communications for publicizing the capacity-based training program at the ‘right places’.
Participants of the Mushroom Farming class were also provided with starter packs to aid them establish mushroom farms.
The Executive Director, Miss Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa presented award certifications to all participants and underscored that the agenda of the training is to ensure that participants appreciate the opportunities in the livestock value chain and manage them as traditional or main agribusinesses.
The Monthly Executive Agribusiness Masterclass comes on again in the coming months to help startups, agribusinesses gain skillsets in farming.
