Torgbe Klusti Butamekpor, the Chief of Labuano, a farming community in the Oti Region of Ghana, is calling on the government to provide more support for farmers in the area.
Labuano is renowned for producing cocoa, cassava, plantain, cocoyam, and banana. However, according to the chief , farmers in the community are struggling to make a living from farming due to several challenges, including the poor road network that makes it difficult for buyers to access the community and purchase produce.
In a statement, Torgbe Klusti Butamekpor emphasized the importance of government supporting farmers, adding that farmers are the backbone of Ghana’s economy. He urged the government to establish a proper market system that would enable farmers to sell their produce at fair prices. He believes that this would help address the difficulties faced by farmers in his community and other farming communities across Ghana.
