The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) has announced a revised Minimum Producer Price (MPP) of GH¢8.30 per kilogramme of raw shea nuts for the remainder of the 2026/2027 season.
The new price, equivalent to GH¢705.50 per 85-kilogramme bag, takes effect from November 3, 2026.
The decision follows a meeting of the Shea Value Chain Price Committee held on November 2, where members unanimously agreed to review the seasonal pricing parameter to reflect prevailing market conditions.
According to the Authority, the adjustment considers favourable macroeconomic conditions, particularly the improved exchange rate, the inflation outlook, and developments in the regional market.
The revised price is intended to ensure that the minimum producer price remains responsive to prevailing economic realities while maintaining the competitiveness of Ghana’s shea trade.
The announcement is in accordance with Section 3(f) of the Tree Crops Development Authority Act, 2019 (Act 1010), and Regulation 47(1) of the Tree Crops Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2471).
The TCDA has also outlined quality requirements for raw shea nuts, including moisture content of 8 to 10 per cent, free fatty acids of 6 to 8 per cent, and impurities of 2 to 4 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, has cautioned individuals and entities against violating the approved pricing directives.
He warned that persons found engaging in practices that contravene the revised price would face the full sanctions prescribed under the Tree Crops Regulations, 2023.
The new price is expected to guide transactions between shea nut producers and buyers for the remainder of the 2026/2027 season.
