The Chairperson of the Planning Committee for this year’s  annual WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards has urged women farmers, particularly those with disabilities, in the Eastern Region to seize the opportunities presented by the prestigious event.

The call to action aims to promote inclusivity, empower women, and ensure that all agriculturalists, regardless of their circumstances, can benefit from the WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards.

Speaking at the launch of the fifth annual Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in the Soil Awards held in the Eastern Region, Dr. Comfort Acheampong, the Chairperson of the planning committee, emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating the remarkable contributions of women in agriculture, especially those who face additional challenges due to disabilities. Their resilience, determination, and innovative practices deserve recognition and support.
“This event is designed to honor excellence in agriculture, and we want to ensure that every deserving individual, regardless of their circumstances, has an equal chance to benefit from the recognition and support provided.so We encourage women farmers, including those with disabilities, in the Eastern Region to come forward and actively participate in the WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards,” stated the Chairperson.

The WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards provide a platform for these women farmers to showcase their achievements and gain access to valuable resources and opportunities. In addition to recognition, theawards offer a host of valuable resources and support. Winners will gain access to mentorship programs, technical assistance, capacity-building initiatives, and exposure to national and international networks. These opportunities aim to amplify the impact of women farmers and foster further growth and success in the agricultural community.

The Chairperson further emphasized the significance of women’s active participation in shaping the agricultural sector’s future. Their unique perspectives, expertise, and experiences can contribute to innovative solutions and sustainable practices that benefit both their communities and the broader
industry.

The call to action extends beyond the WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards. It seeks to inspire and empower women farmers, including those with disabilities, to pursue their passions, overcome challenges, and actively engage in agricultural development. By highlighting the achievements of women in agriculture, the awards aim to create role models and encourage more women to take up leadership positions and excel in the sector.

As the deadline for nominations approaches, the Chairperson of the Planning Committee encourages all women farmers, particularly those with disabilities, in the Eastern Region to come forward and seize the opportunities presented by the WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards.

Because contributions are vital to the growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector, and their success will inspire future generations of women to embark on their own journeys in agriculture, breaking down barriers and realizing their full potential.

Together, let us celebrate the remarkable achievements of women farmers and work towards a more inclusive and prosperous agricultural sector in the Eastern Region and beyond
