Agrihouse Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC), successfully hosted the 13th Annual Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition from Tuesday, October 24th to Thursday, October 26th, 2023. The event took place at the Agrihouse Agri-Village Learning, Innovation, Training, and Demonstration Centre in Kudula, Tamale, Northern Region.
Under the theme, ‘CONNECTING THE UNCONNECTED: THE FARMER, INPUT DEALER, AND THE PROCESSOR,’ the 13th edition of the Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition aimed to foster collaborations and integration within the industry. The three-day conference provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences, explore appropriate technologies, foster market linkage, enhance productivity, and create a network of opportunities.
With a rich history of uniting stakeholders in the agricultural field, the Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition consistently promoted sustainable agricultural practices, connectivity within the industry, and contributed to the overall development of Ghana’s agriculture sector.
Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, the Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, expressed her satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the event. Emphasizing the theme, “CONNECTING THE UNCONNECTED: THE FARMER, INPUT DEALER, AND THE PROCESSOR,” Ms. Akosa highlighted the event’s focus on building strong partnerships and linkages across the entire agricultural value chain.
“As we focus on connecting the unconnected, we’re fostering relationships between farmers, input dealers, and processors, ensuring that no link in the agricultural chain is left unattended.”
She further added, “This year’s Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition marked a significant milestone, recording over 4,000 participants and featuring more than 80 exhibitors spanning various sectors of the agricultural value chain. It’s a testament to the growing interest and commitment to driving innovation, sustainability, and progress in Ghana’s agricultural sector.”

Notable activities during the conference included The Commodity Breakout Session, led by our esteemed mentors, including Yara Ghana, Interplast, GIZ MOAP, Lamb Father, among others, successfully brought together a diverse spectrum of participants. The session, which included farmer groups, farmer-based organizations, aggregators, buyers, students, smallholders, and commercial farmers, aimed to provide invaluable insights into excelling within the agricultural value chain.
One of the highlights of the event was the Farmer-Buyer Matchmaking session, an exclusive networking opportunity that enabled farmers to connect with potential wholesale buyers and various agribusinesses along the value chain.
This interactive session allowed both farmers and buyers to establish connections and finalize deals that can significantly shape their agricultural endeavors.
The Exhibition, spanning the entirety of the three-day event, unfolded as an engaging showcase offering a platform for purchasing and selling products at affordable prices. This hub served as a space to explore the latest innovations, products, and services driving advancements in the agricultural sector. The exhibition covered a wide range of categories, including Crop Varieties, Seeds, Farm Equipment and Machinery, Agrochemicals and Fertilizers, as well as Livestock, among others.
Another integral part of the event was the Field Demonstrations phase, where farmers and industry participants engaged in practical learning. This hands-on experience, hosted at the Agrihouse Foundation Agri-Village, aimed to equip attendees with tangible skills to enhance their agricultural practices. The demonstrations provided firsthand experience and allowed participants to adopt best practices in farm management.
the event also featured a gender session, emphasizing the importance of gender inclusivity and equity in the agricultural value chain. Discussions centered around empowering women in agriculture and creating an inclusive environment for all participants.
In addition to the informative and educative sessions, Participants also engaged in Agrifun games, such as lime and spoon, sack race, and musical chairs, adding a lively and interactive dimension to the conference.
