The Executive Chair of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, has highlighted key areas where the Foundation’s work aligns with the 24-Hour Economy Authority, particularly under its GROW24 initiative aimed at transforming agriculture in Ghana.
According to her, the emerging partnership offers a strong opportunity to expand impact, create jobs, and promote continuous productivity across the agricultural sector. She noted that Agrihouse Foundation already implements practical, community-based projects that fit well into the vision of the 24-hour economy initiative.
One of such initiatives is the Gathering of the Royals, a platform that brings together queen mothers and traditional leaders to support agricultural development in their communities. She explained that integrating this initiative into GROW24 will enable traditional authorities to play a stronger role in mobilizing land, labour, and community participation for round-the-clock farming and agro-processing.
She also pointed to the Royal Agribooster programme, which equips women, especially queen mothers with skills, inputs, and support to venture into agribusiness. This initiative, she said, aligns with GROW24’s goal of inclusive growth by promoting women-led enterprises that can operate across extended hours in production, processing, and marketing.
In addition, the Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) was identified as another key area of collaboration. The programme builds the capacity of women along the agricultural value chain and encourages innovation and agribusiness development. Under GROW24, beneficiaries can scale their ventures to support a continuous and reliable supply chain.
The Agriwoman Marketplace, which provides a platform for women farmers and agripreneurs to sell their produce, was also highlighted as a strong fit. She noted that the initiative can evolve into a structured, shift-based trading hub under the 24-hour economy, helping to reduce post-harvest losses and improve market access at all times.
Overall, the collaboration between Agrihouse Foundation and the 24-Hour Economy Authority through GROW24 is seen as both timely and strategic. By leveraging grassroots networks, empowering women and youth, and promoting continuous agricultural activities. The partnership is a strategic move to transform Ghana’s agriculture into a vibrant, job-creating, and round-the-clock economic driver.
