Agrihouse Foundation continues to empower and stir up women in the agricultural sector, to know that their efforts are essential and go a long way to better the lot and economy of our country, whiles encouraging other women to see the potentials of the sector and take a role within the value chain.
As an organization invested in putting up interventional projects/events that seek to close nagging gabs within the agricultural sector, Agrihouse’ new project, ‘The AgriWoman Market Place’ is clearly living up to its purpose.
For the second time, the event brought together over thirty agriwomen (farmer, processer, packager, marketer, IT service providers, among others), under a cloud of excitement, wrapped in the hustle and bustle of buying and selling, to customers who were just thrilled to have affordable fresh produces and agri-products brought to their doorsteps. Not forgetting the fun and educational activities like agriwomen corporate conversations, egg-race, tag of peace, music and dancing, organizers of the event managed to include in the hours.
As part of the corporate conversations, Ecobank Ghana commended Agrihouse Foundation for organizing a second successful edition of the AgriWomen Market Place, last week Friday, April 30.
According to the Head of Women’s Desk at Ecobank, Ms. Lorretta Sarpong, the efforts of Agrihouse shows consistency and a strong will, to empower women farmers, as the women strive to build their commercial capacity.
She said Ecobank has also recently created ‘the Women’s Desk,’ in all of its branches, aimed at making it easy for women farmers to make inquiries, and receive advise on how to access loans and other banking facilities the bank has put in place for them.
She said Ecobank, just like Agrihouse Foundation is committed to empowering women agripreneurs in the country, and therefore urged them to visit any Ecobank branch in the country, to make enquiries about facilities the bank has put in place to support them.
About AgriWoman Market Place
The overall goal is to support women farmers and agribusinesses to recover fully from the dire effects of COVID-19; gain some stability, increase their income, enhance nutrition of households and support the livelihoods of women farmers, by developing and providing them with a WOMEN-ONLY online and direct marketing platform, to sell and market their products and services at basically no cost.
The second edition of the one-day exhibition attracted over 30 exhibitors from the Volta, Northern, Ashante, Central, Eastern and Greater Regions.
On display were packed locally produced rice, vegetables, shea butter, peanut butter, raw cocoa butter, coconut oil, ginger oil, papaya oil, clove oil, organic honey and poultry products. Women providing services in Mechanization, Transportation, Digital Marketing, Branding, Communications were also able to highlight their products and services through discussions.
Agri-Woman Market Place, is among other people-centered projects, including the Agricultural Students Career Guidance and Mentorship Dialogues Bootcamp (AG- STUD); Livestock Poultry & Fisheries Trade Show (LiPF); International Farmers and Agribusiness Resilience and Sustainability Convention (INTAFAC) Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Forum (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in the Soil Awards; Annual Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibitions; Agri-Watch; and the 1 household, 1 Garden Initiative (1h,1g), initiated by Agrihouse Foundation to reach all its stakeholders.
