The 7th edition of the Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in the Soil Awards will take place in Cape Coast , Central Region, from Wednesday, July 9 to Thursday , July 10, 2025.
Organized by Agrihouse Foundation, the flagship annual intervention, to be held under the theme, “Overcoming Barriers to Develop Meaningful and Sustainable Jobs for Women Farmers and Farmers with Disabilities .” seeks to champion women’s leadership and innovation in agriculture. This year’s edition will also focus on creating sustainable and meaningful employment opportunities for women farmers and farmers with disabilities.
Since its inception, the annual intervention has rotated across Six regions, namely , the Volta, Ashanti, Upper East, Upper West, Eastern and the Bono Regions , supporting women farmers through intensive training, mentorship, and capacity-building workshops.
Over the past six years, the program has helped over 120,000 women directly and thousands more indirectly, fostering economic independence, expanding agro-processing activities, and enabling investments in land and family welfare even during off-seasons.
The two-day forum will feature leadership workshops, agribusiness exhibitions, mentorship sessions, policy dialogues, and the prestigious Gold in the Soil Awards ceremony, which honors exceptional women transforming communities through agriculture.
In a statement, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, emphasized the critical importance of this year’s focus.
“This year, we are seeking to confront the systemic barriers limiting inclusive participation in agriculture particularly for women and farmers with disabilities. At Agrihouse Foundation, we believe sustainable agricultural jobs must be built on fairness, access, innovation, and leadership development. the annual intervention offers real learning, networking, and growth opportunities to those too often overlooked,” she stated.
“Our goal is to empower women-led communities economically through this event. This edition will also explore women’s enterprises within fisheries and livestock, working closely with partners, government agencies, to mobilize resources and provide targeted capacity building. Together, we aim to boost job creation and sustainability for women farmers and farmers with disabilities in these sectors,” she added.
