Mr George Adane, the Jaman North District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Bono Region says plans are underway for the establishment of a cashew processing factory in the district.
He explained that the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry was finalising modalities to build the factory on a 60-acre land to add value to raw cashew and thereby boost local economic growth and development.
Mr Adane said this when speaking at the “Accounting to the people” forum at Suma-Ahenkro, saying that Ministry of Food and Agriculture, has also selected the Jaman North as one of 50 districts to benefit from the establishment of the government’s “Farmer Service Centre”.
The Bono Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, is conducting the forum to offer opportunities for the Assemblies account for their leadership to the people.
Mr Adane said the center would also be developed on a 10-acre land along the Sampa-Kokoa Road, saying that district had also received 9,900 birds under the Feed Ghana Programme, worrying that 400 of the chicks died with the remaining ones distributed to the farmers.
He said 600 bags of fertilizer were also distributed to 399 farmers in the district, saying that all government interventions sought to boost poultry production and improve livelihoods of the people.
Mr Frederick Yaw Ahenkwah, the Member of Parliament for the Jaman North commended the government’s performance in enhancing the holistic development of the district.
He also praised the government for the timely release and disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), which had improved the capacities of the assemblies to execute development projects.
