As part of efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the National Service Authority’s (NSA) role in the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Programme, a strategic meeting was held with the leadership of Agri-Impact Limited, a leading agribusiness firm.
HAPPY Programme is a partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and Agri-Impact Limited with the focus of enabling job opportunities for 326,000 youth aged 15 to 35 in the poultry, tomato, rice and soya value chains.
HAPPY Programme is being implemented by a consortium of eight partners which includes the National Service Authority.
The meeting, held on Monday at Agri-Impact Limited’s headquarters, provided an opportunity to assess NSA’s progress, address challenges, and outline key action points for the next phase of implementation.
Leading the NSA delegation, newly appointed Director General Mr. Felix Gyamfi reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to achieving its targets under the HAPPY Programme.
He highlighted NSA’s contributions, including service personnel deployment, land preparation and expansion, input supply, and cultivated acreages, stating: “We’re happy to report that we’ve made significant progress.”
Discussions also focused on expanding NSA’s tomato, rice, soya, and poultry production through strategic partnerships with government agencies and private sector players.
Agri-Impact Limited CEO, Mr. Daniel Fahene Acquaye, reiterated his firm’s commitment to collaborating with NSA and other HAPPY Program implementing partners to ensure the program’s success.
He among other emphasized NSA’s critical role in increasing the inclusion of tertiary students in the program.
Present at the meeting from Agri-Impact Limited were CEO Daniel Fahene Acquaye, Deputy CEO Mrs. Juliana Asante Dartey, Agribusiness and Value Chain Specialist Mr. Abraham Sarfo, Chief Architect Larry Selorm Amekuse, and CFO Evelyn Denchern Braimah, among others.
The NSA delegation included Director General Felix Gyamfi, Deputy Director-General Ruth Dela Seddoh, Acting Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Angela Boateng, and other key officials.
The management of Agri-Impact Limited earlier paid a courtesy call on Mr. Gyamfi at the NSA headquarters in February 2025 to brief him on the Authority’s responsibilities under the HAPPY Program.
As part of the program, national service personnel are stationed at the NSA’s economic enclave near Agogo in the Ashanti Region, where they gain hands-on farming experience under expert supervision.
NSA has subsequently expanded to other paths of the country to onboard more participants.
