Agriculture growth in 2025 was 0.9%, compared to 2.1% in October 2024, the Government Statistician, Dr Alhassan Iddrisu, has said.
Dr Iddrisu said that this indicates that the increase in economic activity in October 2025 was less pronounced than in the same period last year.
The sector contributed 1.3 per cent to the overall growth of 3.8% in October 2025. Industry recorded a growth of 3.0% in October 2025, compared to 0.4% in October 2024. This indicates a greater expansion in the industry sector compared to the same period last year.
Dr Alhassan said this when he shared key insights from the October 2025 Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG), released today, Wednesday Janury 14, by the Ghana Statistical Service.
The data show that economic activities expanded by 3.8% in October 2025, compared to 3.0% recorded a year earlier, signalling continued growth momentum.
Services, the strongest driver, grew by 5.5%, followed by Industry (3.0%) and Agriculture (0.9%). The MIEG tracks monthly changes in economic activity, providing an early signal of how Ghana’s economy is performing ahead of the quarterly GDP releases.
The sector contributed 28.7% to the overall growth rate of 3.8% in October 2025. Services recorded a growth of 5.5% in October 2025 compared to 5.6% in October 2024.
The MIEG data shows continued strong performance in the services sector, driven largely by Communication and Wholesale and Retail Trade subsectors.. The sector contributed 74.7% to the overall growth of 3.8%.
