Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness, Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, will serve as a ‘Call to Action” keynote speaker at this year’s 8th Gathering of the Royals.
The event, scheduled for March 31, 2026, at the GNAT Hall in Accra, will convene over 600 Queen Mothers and traditional leaders to explore the theme: “Seeds of Change: From Leadership to Legacy – Women Transforming the Agrifood Systems.”
A Convergence of Academic Excellence and Policy Leadership
Dr. Otokunor brings a formidable background to the Gathering of the Royals, holding a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana and professional fellowships as a Chartered Financial Economist. His career spans over two decades of high-level service in both the public and private sectors, making him a uniquely qualified voice to bridge the gap between economic theory and agricultural practice.
Currently, as the Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness at the Office of the President, Dr. Otokunor is at the helm of implementing H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s strategic vision for the sector.
His address is expected to provide a roadmap for how traditional authorities can align with national policies to modernize Ghana’s agrifood landscape.

In his role at the Presidency, Dr. Otokunor focuses on transforming agriculture into a robust commercial enterprise.
Drawing on his past experience as Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA) to advocate for the professional inclusion of women and youth in the agricultural sector, while leveraging his expertise in economic policy management to improve value chains for rural farmers.
Beyond his public service, Dr. Otokunor is a practical player in the industry as the CEO of Heamp Agro Ltd and Heamp Farms, ensuring his policy recommendations are grounded in the realities of active farming.
The inclusion of Dr. Otokunor underscores the relevance of public-private partnership in driving the transformational agenda of the agricultural sector and national food security. Dr. Otokunor’s dual expertise in agricultural economics and presidential policy makes him an invaluable asset to this year’s gathering.
