Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has called for a stronger global focus on the interdependence between energy, water, and food describing them as the “three pillars of human survival and sustainable development.”
Speaking at the 8th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in India, Mr. Jinapor urged world leaders and energy policymakers to adopt an integrated approach to managing these essential resources, warning that progress in one area cannot be sustained without the others.
“We are reminded of the profound interdependence between energy, water, and food — the three pillars of human survival and sustainable development,” he stated.
The Minister’s remarks formed part of Ghana’s ongoing engagement with international partners to accelerate renewable energy deployment, promote green innovation, and enhance climate resilience across Africa.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to advancing its clean energy and green transition agenda, saying the country’s strategy is anchored on expanding access to affordable and reliable power while ensuring that food and water systems remain secure and sustainable.
Mr. Jinapor also highlighted that the energy transition must be inclusive — creating opportunities for rural communities and supporting productive sectors such as agriculture and industry.
The global forum, which brought together heads of state, energy ministers, and policy experts, focused on scaling up solar adoption, financing renewable projects, and building cross-border cooperation to drive a just and equitable transition for developing economies.
Ghana continues to position itself as a regional leader in clean energy development, with the government targeting a significant increase in renewable energy’s contribution to the national energy mix by 2030.
