The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed optimism about the potential for Ghanaian businesses to expand into Japan, describing it as a key step toward fostering a more equitable bilateral relationship between the two countries.
She made the remarks on Thursday, January 15 during a visit by a delegation of Japanese investors.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Japan.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines, Ama Pratt, spokesperson for the Vice President’s office, said Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed satisfaction with the report on existing trade avenues established by Japanese companies in Ghana and emphasised the need for a more balanced exchange.
“Our Vice President said that she is happy about the report on how many trade avenues have been established from their side in our country and to make it even more equitable, she is hoping that the numbers on our side will also increase; talking about 100 Ghanaian companies in Japan, so that we have more equitable relationships as a country that ultimately foster our development,” she said.
