The stage is set for tomorrow, as Agrihouse Foundation is ready to organize the highly anticipated Ghana Poultry Day and third edition of the Ghana Chicken Festival, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

The festival aims to promote the rich heritage of Ghana’s poultry sector and the culinary talents of influential personalities in an exciting cooking competition.

The festival not only celebrates the vibrant poultry industry of Ghana but also serves as a platform to educate and inspire people about the importance of local poultry farming and the incredible flavours it offers.

This year’s festival will feature a line-up of fun-filled and educational activities, and renowned personalities, esteemed in their respective fields as politicians, media personalities, musicians, and Chief Executive Officers among others.

Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa said, the participation of MPs, CEOs, media personalities and entertainers emphasizes their pivotal roles in promoting Ghana’s poultry industry.

She said their involvement would strengthen and push the advocacy campaign of the project in the right direction, and urge government to institute July 1st as Ghana Poultry Day in the country.

The event will also bridge the gap between policymakers and industry leaders, fostering collaboration and a shared commitment to sustainable growth.

This year’s personality chefs include Hon. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Hon. Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, Hon. Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings, Hon. Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, Mr. Captain Smart, and Empress Gifty, among other.

Hon. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, who is a presidential hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his excitement to be part pf the event tomorrow, as he is looking forward delighting the audience with his culinary finesse, as well as share ideas he believes will push the poultry sector forward.

Hon. Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, the respected Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has applauded the initiative, describing it as a significant support for all stakeholders in the country’s poultry sector. His dish will embody the delicious and nutritious possibilities that Ghanaian chicken has to offer.

Hon. Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korley, who is known for her commitment towards young-empowerment, wellness and healthy living has equally praised and commended Agrihouse for the initiative.

Her participation in tomorrow’s event, she has noted, will be an opportunity for her to reiterate the opportunities the poultry sector has to offer young people in the country, as displays her culinary skills with a nutritious and delicious meal.

Captain Smart, the charismatic Executive Producer of Onua Maakye on Onua TV, will bring his vibrant personality to the kitchen as he competes in the cooking competition, as well. He has praised Agrihouse Foundation for the initiative and believes it is a laudable step toward revamping the country’s poultry sector.

As the participants prepare to display their culinary skills, a panel of esteemed judges including gospel musician Piesie Esther, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Nii Amartei, Lead Dietitian, Nimart Nutrition, Chef Ralph, Dainess Chef School will evaluate their dishes based on creativity, presentation, and taste.

In addition to the cooking competition, the  Ghana poultry day / Ghana Chicken Festival will  also feature educational workshops, interactive exhibitions, and engaging panel discussions with experts in the poultry sector. These activities aim to raise awareness about the economic and nutritional significance of supporting local poultry farmers.

The festival also promises to be an exciting ground for children, families and friends to come and relax, enjoy good music, sample different chicken meals and network with stakeholders in the poultry industry. There will be several board games like Draughts, Oware, Scrabble, Ludo and Monopoly. Children will take part in dancing competitions, bouncy castles, facing painting and musical chairs to enjoy the time.

This year’s event is supported by leading organizations including Broadspectrum, Melcom, Amas Farms, Qualiplast, Chilli Belly, Boris B Chicken, Flour Mills, Maphilix Trust Ghana Limited, Fidelity Bank, ADDFRA, Dainess Chief School, Joerees Farms, and Agrogenics Ltd.

Implementing partners include Ghana Egg Secretariat, Ghana Poultry Farmers Association, and National Farmers and Fishermen Awards Winners Association of Ghana.
