Members of the Volta Youth in Agriculture (VYA) has commended the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, for the decision to host the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration in Ho, the Oxygen City and capital of the Volta Region.
The event, scheduled under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” has been described as a bold and timely move that highlights the strategic role of agriculture in the region’s economy.
According to the group, hosting this year’s Farmers’ Day in Ho underscores the Minister’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of farmers across the country, particularly those in the Volta Region.
In a release, the association ,noted that the celebration will bring together farmers, stakeholders, and agribusiness players from across Ghana, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, and the promotion of the region’s agricultural potential.
“The decision to host Farmers’ Day in Ho will not only celebrate the hard work of our farmers but also serve as a catalyst for youth involvement in agriculture,” the group stated. “It presents an opportunity to inspire young people to embrace farming as a viable and sustainable career path.”
The VYA added that by choosing Ho as the host city, the Minister of Agriculture has demonstrated a deep understanding of the region’s agricultural landscape and a clear commitment to promoting growth and development within the sector.
They also expressed confidence that the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a successful and memorable event.
“The theme for this year’s celebration affirms government’s dedication to transforming agriculture into a driver of inclusive growth, climate resilience, food security, and national pride,” the statement added.
