The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced government’s decision to support farmers with tools and other technological equipment to enable them become more productive.
During the Minister’s presentation of the 2026 Budget in Parliament on November 13, 2025, noted that the move is necessary as the Ghanaian farmer has consistently carried the country’s economy in the hardest way of farming.
He emphatically stated that, under the Farmer Service Centres initiative, the government will provide agriculture machinery for 50 agriculture districts with over 4000 different machinery which include 660 Tractors; 300 Tractor Trailers; 200 Minitractors; 200 Minitractor Trailers; 200 Minitractor Tillers; 200 Minitractor Cultivators; 200 Minitractor Ploughs; 200 Minitractor Harrows; 200 Minitractor Cutter bars; 200 Minitractor Mowers; 460 3-Disc Ploughs; 200 4-Disc Ploughs; 330 16-Disc Harrows; 100 1000kg Mineral Fertilizer Spreaders; 100 4-Row Precision Seed Drills; 100 6-Row Precision Seed Drills; 100 32-Row Pneumatic Seed Drills; 300 800L Boom Sprayers; 50 Combine Harvesters; 50 Maize Headers for Combine Harvester; and 25 Soy Headers for Combine Harvester.
According to him, with these investments, we are returning the favour, giving them the tools, technology, and support to carry the nation into a future of food security and prosperity.
