The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has pledged his unwavering commitment to the sustainable management of Ghana’s natural resources, emphasizing the need to protect the environment for current and future generation.
He highlighted the government’s dedication to ensuring that Ghana’s natural resources are utilized responsibly and preserved for the long term. He reiterated that sustainable management practices are essential to maintaining ecological balance, supporting economic growth, and enhancing the livelihoods of communities dependent on natural resources.
The Minister also underscored President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to reforming the sector, aiming to strengthen regulatory frameworks, enhance transparency, and promote responsible resource utilization. He noted that these reforms are critical to tackling challenges such as illegal mining, deforestation, and land degradation, which threaten Ghana’s environmental and economic stability.
He further called for collaborative efforts between government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and local communities to foster sustainable practices that protect Ghana’s rich biodiversity and natural landscapes.
The Minister’s pledge aligns with broader national goals to integrate environmental sustainability into all sectors of development, enhancing resilience against climate change and promoting green growth.
