Coconut sellers in Accra have bemoaned over squeezed market space, therefore calling for government’s intervention.
Speaking with AgriWatchgh News, the sellers shared their ordeal in the market that has affected their business.
According to them, they have no permanent space to station themselves for business in various market places in the city. The sellers emphasized that this has left them with no option than to roam with their heavy products either by pushing on a wheel barrow or a “truck.”
“Finding a secure space to set up my stand is also difficult. By next month, I’m being forced to leave this spot,” he says, worried about losing his only source of income.
The sellers therefore pleaded with the government, precisely local government authorities to consider them by granting them selling points in various markets to see their business thrive even if it comes with the obligation of payment.
“I’m asking the government to help us get permanent places to sell. Even if we pay a small fee, we’ll be okay. We just want a stable place to work.” he added.
