The Ghana Reformative Youth Brigade (GRYB), a Krachi-based youth-focused development organisation, has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) for consideration to be part of the Feed Ghana programme.
With branches across all the regions of Ghana, the Oti Regional branch of GRYB therefore seeks support for a nationwide poultry farming initiative under the government’s Feed Ghana programme.
Mr Isaac Rockson, the Country Director of GRYB, who presented the proposal, noted that the initiative sought to empower young people to establish their own poultry farms as a sustainable source of livelihood, while contributing to national food security.
He said their proposal was designed to complement government efforts aimed at boosting domestic poultry production and reducing Ghana’s reliance on imported chicken.
The group said equipping the youth with the needed resources and technical support would significantly increase local production, create jobs, and strengthen the agricultural value chain.
GRYB, is therefore requesting MoFA’s support to provide members with access to Akokor Nkintinkiti (parent stock) to begin the production as part of an initial pilot phase.
The pilot, which would involve selected members across the regions, would serve as a test case to assess feasibility, measure impact, and identify areas that required further strengthening.
The proposal highlighted several expected benefits, including increased poultry output, expanded employment opportunities for the youth, entrepreneurship development, and an overall boost to Ghana’s agricultural sector.
GRYB expressed its commitment to supporting national development through agriculture and believes the initiative could become a model for youth-led agribusiness interventions nationwide.
The MoFA is expected to study the proposal and consider the youth brigade’s request for the partnership.
