For generations, the hoe has been one of the most familiar tools in the hands of Ghanaian farmers. But as agriculture evolves, the need for greater efficiency, productivity and scale up is becoming increasingly important.
It was against this backdrop that Agrihouse house foundation partners with Sino Machinery to train women farmers and agribusiness leaders on practical knowledge on agricultural mechanization during the 8th Women in Food and Agriculture Leadership Training Forum and Gold in the Soil Awards (WOFAGRIC), held in Damongo in the Savannah Region.
The event organized by Agrihouse foundation under the theme: Closing the Gender Gap: Empowering Rural Women Farmers Through Equitable Access to Finance, Mechanization, Agricultural Inputs and Extension Services”. It is aim at advancing gender equality and empowering rural women in agriculture and farmers living with disabilities, contributing immensely to a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable food system practices across the country.
Meaning while the focused training on the topic “From Hoe to High-Tech: Unlocking Mechanization Solutions for the Future of Women-Led Farming,” introduced participants to the opportunities that mechanization can provide for women seeking to expand their agricultural enterprises.
Facilitating the session was Sophia Nyarko, Sales Executive at Sino Machinery, who engaged participants on the importance of moving beyond labor-intensive farming methods and embracing machinery and technology as tools for improving agricultural productivity.

She highlighted the growing need for women to become active participants in Ghana’s agricultural mechanization agenda, once the are already deeply involved in crop production, livestock, processing and agribusiness. Adding that access to appropriate machinery and knowledge about available mechanization solutions can determine how far their agricultural enterprises are able to grow.
The Sale Executive, encouraged participants to see mechanization as an investment in their businesses rather than an option reserved for large-scale farmers. For a woman cultivating several acres, timely land preparation, planting, weeding and harvesting can make a significant difference to productivity and profitability. Access to appropriate machinery can help reduce delays, manage labour constraints and allow farmers to focus more attention on other aspects of their businesses.
Sino Machinery’s participation also reinforced the importance of exposing women farmers to practical mechanization solutions that respond to their specific needs. The future of agriculture will require farmers to work smarter, adopt appropriate technologies and build enterprises capable of responding to changing market demands. Women, who constitute a significant force within Ghana’s agricultural sector, must therefore be equipped to participate fully in this transformation.

The WOFAGRIC platform provided an important space for that conversation. Beyond celebrating women through the Gold in the Soil Awards, the forum continues to provide opportunities for women farmers and agribusiness leaders to acquire practical knowledge that can strengthen their businesses.
For Sino Machinery, supporting such engagements is an opportunity to contribute to a more productive and inclusive agricultural sector, where women are not only beneficiaries of mechanization but also confident users, owners and decision-makers in agricultural technology.
