Ghana’s food system is gradually changing, but not fast enough to keep pace with the health and nutrition needs of its growing population. Amid these challenges, the youth are proving to be powerful agents of change, redefining how food is understood, produced, and consumed, while championing healthy habit, raising awareness on food safety, and inspiring communities to live better.

To highlight and amplify their contributions, the Chapter’s Nutrition and Health Working Group is hosting a webinar under the theme “Youth at the Forefront: Transforming Ghana’s Food Systems Through Nutrition and Health Innovation.” The event is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Google Meet.

About the World Food Forum Ghana Chapter
The World Food Forum (WFF) Ghana Chapter is the national youth-led movement under the global World Food Forum initiative spearheaded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. It serves as a dynamic platform that empowers young people across Ghana to take active roles in transforming food systems through innovation, advocacy, and action.
The Ghana Chapter works to amplify youth voices and equip them with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to address challenges in food security, nutrition, climate change, and sustainable agriculture. By fostering collaboration among students, researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and grassroots communities, the Chapter bridges the gap between ideas and impact, ensuring that young people are recognized as key stakeholders in shaping the future of Ghana’s food systems.
The Chapter is led by a six (6)-member Steering Committee, representing the Founding Members in Ghana. The Committee provides overall strategic direction, ensuring that the vision and mission of WFF Ghana are carried forward effectively.
In addition, Regional Focal Leads operate across the country to represent the Chapter at the local level. They serve as the direct link between communities and the national platform, coordinating activities, mobilizing youth, and tailoring initiatives to address the unique needs of their respective regions.
The Chapter also consists of Working Groups, which function as specialized arms of the organization. Each Working Group focuses on a thematic area such as nutrition and health, climate action, agribusiness, or innovation and technology. They design and implement targeted projects, produce knowledge resources, and collaborate with partners to advance solutions within their specific domains.
Since its inception, WFF Ghana has championed initiatives that highlight youth contributions to healthier diets, safer food practices, and resilient agricultural systems. It continues to inspire innovation, promote sustainable practices, and advocate for youth inclusion in decision-making processes at both national and international levels.
The Chapter’s ultimate mission is to build a vibrant community of young changemakers who are committed to reimagining Ghana’s food systems—making them more inclusive, sustainable, and fit for the future.
