President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed government’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s agricultural sector through innovation and technology.
Opening the maiden Ghana AgroTech Fair 2026, at the Independence Square in Accra on Tuesday, March 17, the President said agriculture among others is about Jobs, exports, technology and innovations and called on all stakeholders to work together to scale up Agricultural technology locally for Ghana to developed it’s potential for strategic national growth while strengthening her industrial base including being a major producer and exporter.
Visiting exhibitions stands at the fair, President mahama interacted with young innovators, farmers, and agribusiness leaders, Investors whose groundbreaking ideas are redefining the future of agriculture and Agribusiness in Ghana.

In his speech, the President announced he will break ground on Friday for the construction of the first phase of one of his government’s flagship programmes, the Farmer Service Centre at Afram Plains with with 50 more expected to be done nationwide.
President Mahama further commended the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Ghana Eximbank and partners for the sound organisation of the maiden Ghana Agro tech fair as an important national platform for showing and transforming the Agricultural space.
In a remark on advancing Agribusiness through innovation and Value addition, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, underscored the importance of agribusiness as a key driver of industrial transformation.

She noted that the AgroTech Fair is not just an exhibition, but a strategic platform to connect innovation with investment, markets, and policy support.
The Minister also announced that the National Agribusiness Policy will soon receive cabinet approval and stressed that the government is committed in making Ghana the most attractive and compelling Agribusiness Hub in Ghana.
Hon. Elizabeth Minister Ofosu Adjare,again highlighted government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for agribusinesses to thrive through value addition, processing, and increased access to both local and international markets.
She further encouraged the private sector and development partners to take advantage of the opportunities within Ghana’s growing agritech space.
The CEO of the Ghana Eximbank Hon. Sylvester Mensah, maintained that Agricultural technology help among others make the agriculture attractive to the youth, adding that the National Agrotech fair will open doors for business startups, support Agribusiness expansion among others.
He emphasised that the fair will serve as a catalyst for transformation and called for stronger collaboration and partnership to support the Agricultural value chain.
