For eight years, one partnership has consistently demonstrated that investing in women is one of the most effective ways to transform agriculture. That partnership is between Yara Ghana and Agrihouse Foundation, through the Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum and Expo (WOFAGRIC) and the Gold in the Soil Awards.
What began as support for an initiative aimed at recognizing women in agriculture has grown into a journey of empowerment, innovation, and lasting impact. Together, Yara Ghana and Agrihouse Foundation have helped create opportunities for thousands of rural women farmers, processors, agripreneurs, marketers, and women farmers with disabilities to improve their livelihoods and strengthen their businesses.
Over the years, WOFAGRIC and the Gold in the Soil Awards has evolved beyond an annual event. It has become a platform where women gain practical knowledge, access new technologies, build professional networks, and receive the recognition they deserve. Through Yara Ghana’s continuous support, many women have discovered that agriculture is not merely about production, it is about creating sustainable businesses, adding value, and building wealth.

For many participants, the journey has gone even further. Women who started as smallholder farmers now own commercial farms, operate thriving agribusinesses, employ workers, and contribute significantly to their local economies. Some have acquired vehicles to transport their produce directly to markets, reducing transportation costs and increasing their profits. Others have expanded their operations into full-scale processing enterprises, creating value-added products that are reaching supermarkets and export markets.
These success stories reflect the vision that has driven Yara Ghana’s partnership with WOFAGRIC from the very beginning, helping women move beyond subsistence farming to become entrepreneurs, business owners, employers, and leaders within Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Yara Ghana’s commitment has also extended beyond productivity. Through its support, women have been exposed to improved crop nutrition practices, sustainable farming techniques, climate-smart agriculture, and responsible fertilizer use. These interventions have enabled many farmers to increase yields while protecting the environment and improving household incomes.

Another defining feature of the partnership has been its commitment to inclusion. Through the Gold in the Soil Awards, women farmers with disabilities have been given a platform to showcase their resilience, innovation, and determination. Their recognition has challenged stereotypes and demonstrated that agriculture offers opportunities for everyone, regardless of physical ability.
The Gold in the Soil Awards has become one of Ghana’s most respected platforms for celebrating women in agriculture. Every year, it highlights extraordinary women whose hard work often goes unnoticed, inspiring others to pursue excellence and proving that women are central to Ghana’s agricultural transformation.
As preparations gather pace for the 8th edition of WOFAGRIC and the Gold in the Soil Awards in the Savannah Region on July 22 to July 23, 2026, Yara Ghana’s impact continues to grow. This year’s event is expected to bring together about 1,000 women farmers from across the country for training, mentorship, panel discussion, business networking, and knowledge sharing. It will provide another opportunity for women to connect with experts, financial institutions, input suppliers, and markets that can help them grow their enterprises.

For Yara Ghana, the journey has never been about sponsorship alone. It has been about investing in people, creating opportunities, and helping women realize their full potential. For Agrihouse Foundation, the partnership has made it possible to expand the reach and impact of WOFAGRIC, ensuring that more rural women have access to the knowledge, recognition, and support they need to thrive.
Eight years on, the results speak for themselves. Women are breaking barriers. They are building businesses, creating jobs, adopting modern farming practices, processing what they produce, accessing new markets, and inspiring the next generation of agricultural leaders.
As WOFAGRIC continues its journey, the partnership between Yara Ghana and Agrihouse Foundation stands as a powerful example of how sustained collaboration can change lives, strengthen communities, and shape the future of agriculture in Ghana.
