The fields of Lingbinsi are coming alive with vibrant colors and renewed hope as members of the local farming cooperatives begin harvesting their first batch of peppers under the ‘Boost to Bloom’ project, implemented by Agrihouse Foundation with support from AGRA and the Mastercard Foundation under the Youth Entrepreneurship for the Future of Food and Agriculture (YEFFA) programme.
After months of training, dedication, and teamwork, the farmers of who many of them are youth, person with disabilities and women are seeing the fruits of their labor take shape. The sight of freshly harvested peppers drying under the sun marks more than just a productive season; it symbolizes a growing story of empowerment and resilience in Northern Ghana’s agricultural communities.
“This harvest is a testimony to what happens when farmers are given the right training, tools, and support,” said Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa the executive director of Agrihouse Foundation. “The Lingbinsi bloomers have shown that with determination and community spirit, smallholder farmers can achieve big results.”

The bloomers in Lingbinsi are part of hundreds of beneficiaries who have been trained in sustainable pepper production, business management, and value addition through the Boost to Bloom project. The project equips farmers with essential inputs including seeds, organic fertilizers, and farm tools while connecting them to markets and agribusiness networks.
For the farmers, the harvest brings both economic relief and renewed motivation. Honorable Jonathan observed that the cooperatives have harvested 10bags of pepper so far, and in the market, a bag of pepper now sells between GHS 500 and GHS700.

With this encouraging outcome, the bloomers are already planning to expand production in the next cycle, using lessons learned from this season to improve yields and quality.
As the peppers continue to dry in the Northern sun, they stand as a vivid reminder of what empowerment looks like when communities are supported to grow not just crops, but opportunity.
“We started with training and a few tools,” Victoria a cooperative member shared proudly. “Today, we are harvesting hope.”
Agrihouse Foundation express its profound gratitude to AGRA for its unwavering partnership and support in empowering smallholder farmers, youth, women and persons with disabilities across Ghana.
Through projects like Boost to Bloom, Agrihouse Foundation continues to strengthen local value chains, create livelihoods, and inspire youth, person with disabilities and women to see agriculture as a business one that truly blossoms when nurtured with the right support.
