Dr. Saiid Kwaku Adu, a Health Advocate has noted the critical need for eating both fibreless and fibre foods in their right proportions.
“We need one third of the food we eat to be fibreless while, about two thirds are fibre rich foods. For good health we need both fibre rich and fibreless foods in the right proportion to stay healthy”, he explained.
Dr. Adu who explained this in an interview with Ghana News Agency, added that when the food we eat is mainly fibre containing foods , the solid waste is very loose and watery while, no fibre presented constipation with dry solid waste.
He educated that every human being needed soft stools that was easily evacuated without much effort.
He also urged that people take notice of their stool adding, that “colour of solid waste of foods that do not contain fibre is deep brown while, the colour of solid waste of food that contained fibre are light brown”.
Dr. Adu stressed that none of those colours was the ideal for normal stools when the foods with fibre and those without are in the right proportion the colour becomes dark brown beside attaining the right texture.
The Health Advocate said anytime one experienced constipation, “think of eating foods that contain more fibre. When the stool is very watery, to too soft, think of adding more foods that do not contain fibre to your food”.
