The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, has lauded Agrihouse Foundation for its significant contribution to advancing Ghana’s agricultural input sector. Speaking at the Second Ghana Agrochemicals and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards in Techiman, he underscored the importance of the event in addressing critical challenges faced by farmers, particularly in the areas of access to quality inputs and knowledge of their safe and effective application.
He noted that the exhibition plays a pivotal role in connecting farmers directly with suppliers of agricultural inputs, ensuring that they have access to affordable, quality products. He further highlighted the educational aspect of the event, which focuses on the safe use of weedicides and pesticides, helping farmers avoid the harmful effects of improper application.
“This program is of great benefit to the Bono East region. It directly connects our farmers with input suppliers, ensuring that agricultural products are not only affordable but also accessible,” Hon. Owusu Antwi remarked. “Additionally, it provides essential training on the safe use of chemicals like weedicides and pesticides, which is crucial in preventing adverse health and environmental impacts.”
The Minister encouraged farmers to apply the valuable knowledge gained from the exhibition in order to increase productivity and protect the environment. He emphasized that adopting best practices, such as using the right fertilizers and disposing of chemical containers correctly, would not only boost crop yields but also contribute to sustainable farming practices.
“If our farmers embrace the best practices shared at this event, we will undoubtedly see an increase in yields and an improvement in food security. It is equally important that farmers use fertilizers responsibly and ensure proper disposal of chemical containers to prevent environmental harm,” he added.
Agrihouse Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting the agricultural sector through initiatives like this exhibition is helping transform Ghana’s agricultural landscape. By connecting farmers with vital resources and knowledge, the foundation is playing a key role in ensuring a sustainable and food-secure future for the country.
