GLICO, one of Ghana’s leading insurance companies, has pledged to provide insurance cover for Agrihouse Foundation’s elevated Tomatoes Project, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer-focused services in the insurance sector.
The pledge was made by the Chief Business Development Officer of GLICO, Mrs. Angela Asanti, during a call to action at the 8th Gathering of the Royals, held at GNAT Hall in Accra on March 31, 2026. The event was held under the theme: “Seed of Change: From Leadership to Legacy – Women Transforming the Agrifood Systems.”
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Asanti explained that insurance plays a key role in supporting farmers, especially when it comes to securing bank loans. She noted that GLICO offers agricultural insurance packages for poultry, aquaculture, livestock, and a variety of crops.

She also emphasized that insurance is an important part of the agricultural value chain. According to her, when farmers and stakeholders come together as cooperatives or aggregators, it becomes easier and more affordable to provide insurance services.
“Insurance is a game of numbers. The more people we serve, the lower the cost for everyone,” she said.
Mrs. Asanti further expressed appreciation to Agrihouse Foundation for bringing together key stakeholders on one platform to discuss and support agricultural development.
As part of the event, the Chief Patron and Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency announced the 2027 call to action, which will focus on strengthening the tomato value chain. She described the initiative as a step toward building a strong network of tomato producers who can increase production and add value.
She also expressed confidence that within a year, stakeholders will meet again to review progress and share results.
